The last two days in Whistler have been epic. After a week of snowfall, culminating in us being able to hold another jump day, the weekend saw even more snow fall. 22cm on Sat night, 10cm on Sunday night and plenty during the day as well. So today I was up the lift as early as possible and, as evidence, here are my footprints after hiking up Spanky’s ladder (note the lack of any other footprints).
So I was rewarded with fresh lines down one of the bowls on Whistler (Sapphire Bowl I think, but there are so many it is difficult to be sure without getting the piste map out, and I can’t be bothered right now). I also got some amazing fresh snow on several other runs during the day and in the afternoon Anthony (our coach) took us for some more incredible runs. Not only did I hit plenty of runs that I have never done before, but even Anthony – who has been running pro-ride in Whistler for 10 years – did a run through some trees that he has not done before. We did lots of jumps, hits, drops and I also ran in to a branch sticking out from a tree. The result of which was a rip in my jacket and a rip in my arm! Nothing serious, but a little blood and a sore arm for the day. Here is a shot to give you an idea of the amount of snow on the mountain at the moment…
Apparently it snowed in England over Easter, but I am pretty sure that we still have more snow here at the moment. The last couple of days the weather has stayed pretty cold, so no sign of Spring just yet. Good.
Oh, and its about time that I posted something random to my site. So here it is, a bit of Indiana Jones for you lucky people. Lego style…
